Narwal Freo X Ultra
A top-rated, highly-functional Gen 4 robot vacuum and mop that takes a fresh approach to design and functionality, the Freo X Ultra is a well-made machine. The $1,400 list price is hard to swallow, but you can find it on sale frequently enough to make the purchase more palatable. The unit is stunning and the base occupies very small space in a corner.
This robot's design addresses a few problems that we have encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop units, such as the brushes becoming entangled in hair, and the brush not being able to reach floors with no furniture. The sweeping performance is also impressive on carpets and bare flooring. The vacuum/mop system has the highest amount of debris removal, and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops use a smart system that cleans along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can handle the largest obstacles like food bowls, toys shoes, and backpacks without any problem. It can get tangled or get stuck with smaller, more compact objects like shoelaces, USB cables and pens.
This robot was used to mop and vacuum hardwood floors FLOR carpet tiles, as well as pile rugs in a huge open-plan house. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90 square meters in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than average for Gen 4 robots.
This robot is distinguished by a variety of characteristics. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous enhancements in terms of sensors, software, and hardware to keep it on top of its class. It has declared autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments up to 260 square meters.

Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a reputation of quality and innovation in the field of robot vacuuming. This new robot is designed to elevate the cleaning performance to a whole new level, with its smart features.
The RX3 has a dual-suction system smart mapping system that includes 3D mapping and a camera which transmits live images to your smartphone. Its powerful four-stage cleaning system ensures excellent dust removal on hard and carpet floors, while intuitive side brushes that swing out and dual suction channels remove dust from corners. More lets it get under low furniture. Front cameras and infrared sensor assist in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstructions with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test on how well it was able to clean baking powder near baseboards and corners. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a bit weaker than other robots but it moved quickly and was quiet. It didn't clean, however and its cleaning pads were difficult to attach and didn't deal with dried-on dirt.
Its app lacks advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It works with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very precise or responsive. It's also difficult when it comes to getting back to the charging station after running other robots are able to trace a previous path or sensibly follow a wall around until they get to their home, but the RX3 just bumbles about until it gives up and sends a failure message to your phone.
Another issue we had was with its clever features, specifically the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. While it did a great job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes however, it was easily caught by cables and socks and it was not able to manage the tassels of rugs. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to traditional uprights.
